Here
are our reviews of company sites offering website hosting
packages. Some of these companies offer free website hosting
in addition to a variety of paid hosting packages:
Freeservers: This
company offers several different web hosting options. You
may obtain a free website, but that option includes ads
on your site that you don't control. If you'd like for those
ads to disappear, you may pay for an upgrade. The prices
listed seem quite reasonable. Freeservers offers an "easy-to-use"
website building tool for folks who don't know HTML. They
also have a nice user interface for uploading files, if
you'd prefer not to use FTP.
Go
Daddy: This is a very well-known company that offers
many packages for a variety of needs. In our experience,
the user interfaces are quite easy to use, and the customer
service is quite good. The company offers WordPress hosting,
and we found that WordPress updates were a bit difficult
to manage with Go Daddy, but things may have improved now.
Be sure to ask about that issue when signing up, if you're
producing a blog.
Bluehost:
another well-known hosting company, offering a variety of
services for a variety of needs. You'll find plans involving
RoR, MySQL, PHP, CGI and more. Bluehost claims to be hosting
over 1 million domains.
Fatcow:
in business since 1998; offering opportunity to work with
WordPress, MySQL databases, Python, Perl and more.
